Try Android's accessibility timeout for a temporary message that disappears before you finish reading. Treat it as a display preference to test, not extra time added to a server-controlled deadline.

Set a longer reading interval

On Android 10 or later, open Settings, Accessibility, Time to take action, also called Accessibility timeout, and choose an available duration. Not all apps support it. Refer to Google's accessibility timeout guidance; device wording can vary.

Note the old preference before making a change. Test with an ordinary, low-consequence temporary notice. Do not use a payment confirmation, an account change or a live timed round merely to see whether the setting works. A read-only example lets you observe visibility without creating an unrelated commitment.

Separate two kinds of timing

Imagine a hypothetical informational notice with a Dismiss action. You choose a longer timeout, repeat the same reading task and observe whether the notice stays visible longer. Record the preference you selected and what happened; do not simply assume the app honoured the preference.

Now consider a different hypothetical display showing a remotely determined closing time. The Android preference is not evidence that this closing time moved. Even if a notice remains visible, its underlying event may have a separate deadline. Keep “how long I could read the message” and “when the external event ends” in different fields.

Report an unchanged result clearly

If the notice still disappears at the same apparent interval, write: “Longer accessibility timeout selected; this dismissible notice showed no observed change.” Include the kind of notice and whether the screen was otherwise idle. That is more useful than claiming the entire phone ignores accessibility settings.

Leave passwords, codes, payment details and private message text out of the report. The next question is whether this app and notice support the preference, not how to force a deadline to pause. Our general screen-change guide provides further reading context without promising a particular app behaviour.
